The 8th Btn. North Staffordshire Regiment served with the 19th Division near the Hollandscheschurr Farm mines, during the 1917 Battle of Messines.
The 8th Battalion was raised at Lichfield on the 18th September 1914 as part of K2 and became part of 57th Brigade in 19th (Western) Division. The trained at Salibury Plain, moving into billets in Bristol in December 1914 and in February 1915 they moved to Weston-spuer-Mare before going to Tidworth in April. They proceeded to France on the 18th of July 1915.
