The 68th Brigade

The 68th Brigade were part of the 23rd Division, X Corps of the 2nd Army, under the command of Lt General Sir Thomas Moreland and was made up of:
- 10th Btn. Northumberland Fusilers
- 11th Btn. Northumberland Fusilers
- 12th Durham Light Infantry
- 13th Durham Light Infantry
- 68th Machine Gun Company, MGC
- 68th Trench Mortar Battery
Their position in the Battle of Messines was on the northern edge of the ridge close to the mines at Hill 60 and The Caterpillar, the 68th brigade were in reserve in the inital attack, with the 69th and 70th brigades in the lead.
